The Rafina–Tinos crossing
Tinos is famous across Greece for the church of Panagia Evangelistria, drawing pilgrims year-round, but it's also a quietly beautiful island of villages, dovecotes and great food. From Rafina the crossing takes about 1½ to 2 hours, and many sailings continue on to Mykonos — handy if you're island-hopping.
With Rafina just ~25 km from Athens International Airport, Tinos is an easy same-day connection from your flight. Service is busiest from spring to autumn, with extra sailings around the major religious feast days.
Tips for this route
- Book well ahead around 15 August (the Dormition feast) — Tinos is extremely busy.
- Pair it with Mykonos — many ferries serve both on one route.
- Arrive 30–45 minutes early and keep your e-ticket handy for the gate.
