Island hopping from Rafina

Rafina is a perfect launchpad for the northern Cyclades — here's how to chain the islands together.

The northern-Cyclades corridor

Most Rafina ferries follow the same line out into the Aegean, which makes hopping easy: Andros → Tinos → Mykonos sit on one corridor, and many boats serve two or three of them on a single sailing. From Mykonos and Tinos you can carry on to Paros, Naxos, Ios and Santorini, then fly home from Santorini or loop back.

Because Rafina is only ~25 km from Athens Airport, you can land, sail the same day and start hopping without crossing the city to Piraeus.

Tips for hopping

  • Book each leg ahead in July–August — popular high-speed sailings fill up.
  • Pair Tinos & Mykonos — they're often on the same route, so it's an easy two-island trip.
  • Give yourself a buffer between connections; seas and schedules can shift.
  • Travel light — you'll be on and off boats, and high-speed ferries have limited luggage space.
  • One-way works — you don't have to return to Rafina; many travellers finish in Santorini.
